I Never....

I never thought I'd marry a guy like Derek.
Country boy, sheltered, handy man,
biggest heart in the world, stubborn, twice my size ;)

I never thought we'd make our home on the COMPLETE
other side of the city I grew up in,
away from my family.

I never thought that when I met him,
that I would be working with him for the rest of my life
running the business for his family.

I never thought that what I went to school for, would come in handy,
until my job now has me doing accounting and creating graphic projects.

I never thought I'd know how to do taxes,
until this year when our tax guy screwed everything up!

I never thought I would feed and take care of 8 animals and once a deer every day,
until I grew a HUGE heart for all animals that come up to me and I have to feed.

I never thought that my daily dress attire would include
tennis shoes and probably a t-shirt w/a northface,
until I realized nobody would see me way out here in the country!

I NEVER thought I would have a hard time becoming pregnant,
until I learned the heartache infertiles go through.

I never thought that after TWO years of trying to conceive,
that I would finally get pregnant and have my first child at age 26.

I never thought I'd EVER want to be pregnant again,
until I've been able to experience the joys of being a parent.

I never thought I would be in bed before 10pm every night,
until my son decided my wake up time is before 6am every morning.

I never thought my home decor would include baby toys,
instead of the usual glass vase or picture frame,
until my son learned how to pull up.

I never thought I would have such a close relationship with my mom,
until I became a mom.
I never thought I would need her as much as I do now.

I never thought I'd enjoy a simple glass of wine after a long day.

I never thought that I'd enjoy that glass of wine over a conversation w/one of my few close friends.

I'd never thought I'd remain friends w/people I've known since I was 5.


I never imagined that my life would be where it is now:
Married, with a child, planning on building a house in the country w/no neighbors, running an office alone, w/less close friends (but super close ones), but I would NEVER change it for the world.

You never know what you're going to get in life, but embrace it. It's beautiful and worth every second. Even if you don't expect anything ahead....
