Parenthood test #1

As I've told everyone, my husband's little sister just moved in with us. I will not go into detail but she is going through a hard time. She's 18, all on her own and starting college. Doesn't know what she wants in life & has just broke up with her boyfriend. Oh to be 18 again! But at 12:30 last night she came into my room crying. She feels like her world is falling apart. My husband wasn't there so it was just me and her sitting up in my bed talking. She was crying so hard. I come from a family of 6 but was the youngest so I never really had to take care of someone. I gave her the speech that I live by, "It always gets worse before it gets better. And, If HE brings you to it, He will bring you through it!" A close friend of mine told me the same words when I was 18 and it really does help. I found myself last night giving her inspirational words and thoughts and consoling her. I felt like I was just given my mommyhood test #1. And I will admit, I really liked it as strange as that sounds. I knew I wanted to be a mom when I realized I have so much love to give. I enjoy making people feel better and I believe that being a mom includes those things. I can't wait!

On to a different topic... Kelli, please stop reading here! I'm throwing a baby shower for one of my best friends, Kelli in September and we've decided to go with the storytime theme b/c she's having 2 other showers. So, I could use any creative ideas. I've got some basics figured out but will not put it on here. If anyone has any ideas they want to share, please email me at my link on the sidebar. Thanks a bunch!

Isn't mommy hood the greatest? Even if your just the big sister, it's a great feeling to help out.

I currently have a 3 week old infant in the hossy that I would like to go just spend time with but I am getting over a cold and afraid to give it to this little tiny thing. Mommy hood is difficult!

You are so sweet to throw Kelli a babyshower...I will start racking my brain and let you know if I think of anything.
